About me

Hi! I’m Max, and I’m so glad you’re here.

I am in my early twenties. I have a day job. I live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area with my mom, dad, and brother. I have a lovely partner and a few amazing friends. I am lucky and I am loved.

I am a gay, White cisgender man. My pronouns are he/him/his. I am agnostic. I have OCD and anxiety.

I love a lot of things: Steven Universe, animation, graphic novels, children’s books, singer-songwriter and lofi music, gadgets (especially retro ones), cars, product design, interior design, architecture, bookstores, art museums, neighborhood walks, yoga classes, writing poetry, and swimming during the summer.

Life is hard. The world is scary and mean. Sometimes I am sad and hurt and lonely and angry. Sometimes I forget about all my hobbies and stew in the dark. Sometimes I make mistakes and hurt people.

But I am alive. I am imperfectly, challengingly, beautifully, wonderfully alive. And I’m here for you.

You are not alone.

About Anything Glows

I am not an “anything goes” sort of person. But in my past blogging projects, I’ve boxed myself into topics that I’ve then grown out of. So now I’m creating a home for my writing that can grow with me.

I’d tell you what I’m going to write about, but I have no idea. Let’s find out together.

About my other projects

Completely Full Bookshelf

A book review blog that I founded in 2016, focusing on picture books, middle grade books, young adult books, and graphic novels.

(Remember that I am in my early twenties now, so I was young when I wrote the early posts. If you read them, don’t judge me.)

Max Talks Alarm Clocks

A blog about alarm clocks (yes, really) that I founded in 2025, focusing on the aesthetic design, user interface, and weird features of digital alarm clocks from the 1990s onward.

About my profile photo

It’s Pearl! Singing an angsty song about lost love as the blurry cityscape rotates around her.

Pearl is my favorite character from Steven Universe. I am basically her IRL. Back in 2021, I created this photograph to replicate a favorite scene from the show, and you can see both side-by-side above.

I'm going to save myself through writing. Maybe I can save other people too.
